Registration for the Brisbane Pokémon Regional Championships will open on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 pm AEST.

Registration

All tournament registrations for Pokémon Championships Series events are managed through RK9.gg, the official tournament registration platform.

Competitors use RK9 to:

  • Register for the event by selecting your game title, division (based on your age) and paying your entry fee.
  • View tournament details such as player lists, seating assignments, and round pairings.
  • Track your results as the tournament progresses.

New Trainer Guide

This is where every great Trainer’s journey begins – the first step on your adventure with Play! Pokémon and the Championship Series! Here, you’ll learn how to sign up and register with Play! Pokémon and RK9.gg, unlocking the gateway to the Championship Series.


Play! Pokémon Trainer ID

A Play! Pokémon ID is a unique identification number that players use to participate in official Pokémon events, track their progress, and earn rewards like Championship Points.

It’s free to create, and anyone can sign up by making a Pokémon Trainer Club account on pokemon.com and opting in to the Play! Pokémon program. Once registered, your Play! Pokémon ID will be linked to your account and can be used to sign up for tournaments through platforms like RK9.gg.

RK9.gg Account

RK9.gg is the official tournament management platform used for Pokémon events. It streamlines the process of registering for competitions, submitting team lists or decklists, and checking pairings and results, making events smoother for both players and organisers. Pokémon uses RK9.gg to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across local, regional, and international tournaments.

  • If you don’t have an account, click “Sign Up” to create one using your email address.
  • Complete your profile and fill in all required fields, including: Full Name, Date of Birth, Country, Play! Pokémon Trainer ID (found on the Play! Pokémon screen) and Trainer/Screennames for games like Pokémon GO

Registering for an Event

  • To register for the Tournament, on the event page, click “Register” or “Sign Up”.
  • Choose your age division and review the entry fee and payment methods.
  • Complete the registration by following the prompts.
  • You will receive a confirmation email once your registration is successful.

Prepare for the Tournament

  • Ensure you have access to your device (phone/tablet) to use RK9 during the event.
  • Familiarise yourself with the tournament schedule and rules.
  • Ensure any necessary check-ins or decklist submissions are completed before the deadline.

During the Tournament

  • View Pairings – Find out who you’re playing and at which table without waiting for paper postings.
  • Track Standings – Stay updated on your progress throughout the event.

Main Event

The main events at a Pokémon Regional Championships are where the action truly happens featuring intense battles in the:


  • Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG)
  • Pokémon Video Game (VG) on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
  • Pokémon GO

These high-stakes competitions give players the chance to prove themselves, earn amazing prizes, and take one step closer to the ultimate stage: the Pokémon World Championships!


For Pokémon Trading Card Game and Video Game, players are divided into three age divisions based on birth year as listed below:

  • Junior Division: Born in 2014 or later
  • Senior Division: Born between 2010 to 2013
  • Masters Division: Born on or before 2009

Current Event Formats

Each event has its own specific requirements that players must follow, and competitors should always refer to the Play! Pokémon Tournament Handbook to ensure they are prepared and in compliance.

Pokémon Trading Card Game: Cards with a Regulation Mark, G or later.

Pokémon Video Game: Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on the Nintendo Switch / Nintendo Switch 2. Current Regulation Set: H.

Pokémon GO: A team of 6 Pokémon (1,500 CP and under) is legal for battle. Ditto, Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Shedinja, and certain Pokémon that know specific moves are prohibited from competitive play.

Side Events

All weekend long, you can jump into most Side Events on demand – just sign up and start playing! Some events, like Championship Point Side Events and other Scheduled Events, do require advance registration.


Full details and step-by-step instructions will be available at the Side Events Area during the event.

Spectators

Spectator passes can be purchased through RK9.gg before the event begins without an RK9.gg account. They will also be available for purchase at the venue throughout the weekend.


Junior and Senior Main Event registrations will include one Spectator Pass for a guardian to accompany the competitor to the event.
